Horizon Market is a Partially-Signed Bitcoin Transaction (”PSBT”) Marketplace: users post PSBTs to sell **Counterparty assets for a certain amount of Bitcoin. Buyers then co-sign and broadcast these PSBTs to effect an atomic swap with the seller: the seller receives BTC and the buyer receives their Counterparty asset trustlessly and in the same transaction, without any intermediary.
Horizon Market also hosts a Counterparty block explorer, called Horizon Explorer, as well as a Counterparty Web wallet, Horizon Wallet.
You must use a Chromium-based browser (e.g. Brave or Google Chrome), as well as a supported Chrome extension wallet. You must then connect that wallet to Horizon Market. The Horizon Wallet Web wallet cannot be used to buy or sell on Horizon Market.
Note: You can only connect P2WPKH addresses (i.e. addresses starting with bc1q
which are 42 characters long) to Horizon Market.
To post listings on Horizon Market you must create an account using a valid email address. Then you must either purchase credits or a monthly subscription. Finally, you must attach the quantity of a Counterparty asset you want to sell to a Bitcoin UTXO.
To purchase a listing no account is required and there is no Horizon Market fee.
For further instructions on all of the above, see our Horizon Market tutorial.
We have built the Horizon Wallet Chrome Extension to work seamlessly with Horizon Market. You can get the extension on the Chrome Web Store.
In addition to Horizon Wallet, Horizon Market supports the following wallet extensions:
Note: None of the above wallets supports Counterparty except Horizon Wallet. Using a wallet for Counterparty transactions that does not support Counterparty is inherently dangerous. If you use the wallet outside of Horizon Market there is a very high risk of losing your UTXO-attached assets.
Additionally while you will be able to post and fill orders on Horizon Market’s atomic swaps orderbook with any supported wallet, if you use a wallet other than Horizon Wallet, you will not be able to see the details of your swap after it is completed outside of Horizon Market, and you will not be able to access Counterparty assets you purchased in a swap, except to re-list them again on Horizon Market.
